Still here

Yep, that's right. We haven't fallen off the face of the earth or into a black hole. We've just been busy with life and trying to keep up with our son. He's now 8 months old and it's unbelievable how much he's changed since he was born.

Now this is his 7 month picture, but it'll have to do since it's the newest one I have. We've also been getting "mommy" up and going after a little knee surgery she had a bit ago. She's doing much better now and is back to working again. Sutton enjoyed a first during her down time, he took a bath in the sink while we were down at the condo after Katie's surgery.

We also got to go to the Road America track in Wisconsin with Katie's family where Sutton enjoyed showing off his new wheels.

Another fun trip I was able to take Sutton on was our annual camping/hunting trip with Sutton's grandpa and great grandpa Schweitzer and uncles Zach Smith and Luke Schweitzer. He really seemed to enjoy the outdoors and I'm excited to take him on many more trips in the future.

I think that's all for now. I've finally got an app for our blog on my phone, so I'm hoping that will help me keep a little more up to date and not have to check in every 4 or 5 months. We're looking forward to this fall and all the fun it'll bring with family time and Sutton's first harvest.

How time flies

Um..... wow. Have I really not updated this since May 10? Dang, apparently I suck.

Well lets not try and dwell on the past and look to the future. Although, we have had a couple of events happen here in the recent months since I've posted. One that really stands out is my little sister Andrea getting married on July 2nd to her long time buddy Zach Smith. Zach is a great guy and we're absolutely thrilled to have him in our family. I believe he will fit in well with our group and it'll be nice to have family that's living closer than 2 hours away. I apologize for not having any wedding picture but I'm at work doing this and didn't bring my camera with me.

Other things we've done since I posted were go to the zoo on a little family outing here in June and Sutton is fast approaching being 6 months old. It doesn't really seem like it's been that long ago that we were welcoming him into this world. "It's like the blink of an eye", to quote my dad. Time really does move along but we're excited to watch him grow into a great man of God. He has quite the personality and is a real charmer to everyone that will give him a second of their time.

I'm sorry this is so short, but... I am at work so I should probably get going on that. Pssshhh.... work, who needs  it :) Anyway, I'll leave you with a picture of our little boy and I promise I will get on here in the not so distant future with pictures and a give a little better detail of what's been going on in our hectic lives. Have a great rest of your day.

O how time flies

Man, it really doesn't seem like it's been almost a month since I've gotten on here. I mean really... where does the time go these days? It seems like it was just yesterday that we were taking Sutton home from the hospital and were the new parents on the block. Now, he'll be 4 months old on Saturday and we have some friends at church that have had their baby boy Isaac and there are a few more that will be having their babies fairly soon as well. *Sigh* Apparently my dad was right when he said time speeds up the longer you have kids.

Well, onto the rest of the news. We've had a busy last month of traveling and housing projects. Most of us were able to go down to the farm to celebrate Easter. We didn't get to have Andrea's fiance Zach along with us, but we're hoping we get to see him this summer a bit more now that he graduated from college. It was fun to get to see the little band of cousins interact with eachother.

It makes me really excited to see our family continue to grow and I can only hope that all of our kids get to have as much fun with all their cousins at get togethers like this as we did when we were little. I know I speak for all of my siblings when I say that there are a lot of good memories of family get togethers, camping trips and just hanging out at grandma and grandpa's house.

After Easter, we took grandpa Schweitzer's little utility trailer home for a weekend project that Katie has been on me to do for her. Luckily I conned...... I mean....... was able to have my cousin Darren graceously agree to come up and help me for the weekend the following Saturday. We spent a better part of the day getting the clay in my backyard dug up and removed so we could start getting the raised garden in place. Clay you say to yourself.... While yes, I do have grass, the material they used to back fill against our house is clay and it gets really really hard. So all I can say is thanks for coming up and helping me Darren, because if you hadn't I'd still be out there.

I was also lucky enough to persuade Mikaela to come up and watch Sutton for the day. Not only while we were out in the yard, but also for a little in the afternoon as well when Darren, Jamey Kennel and myself went to the golf course for a "quick" 9 holes. Let me just tell you now.... we're not going pro anytime soon. Holy cow I'm bad. But we did have a fun time just getting to hang out and catch up with one another since we don't get to do that very often anymore. I won't post any pictures though... mainly because we couldn't get any good shots through all the tree branches and from the bottom of all the water hazards.

That's all I can really think of for now. I will say on a final note that we're extremely excited for this summer as we anticipate all the activities we have going on. What with weddings, camping and other trips we have planned... it should be quite a busy time. I guess I shouldn't say that we're still looking forward to summer because as of yesterday we had over 100 degree weather. Dang man... where'd spring go?

Raining...

There's quite a bit of that going on here as of the last two days. Dang man... I remember just a week ago that we had 80 degree weather and it was amazing. The grass and all the plants were starting to come back to life and everything was looking chipper. I even got out and had the lawn fertilized and watered the grass once. Now... we're looking at highs of 45 degrees with nothing but wind and rain with a possibility of snow tonite. It just doesn't make you want to leap for joy does it?

On another note, Sutton is still growing by the minute and continues to be a happy baby.

He's starting to get to the point where he is really focusing on things that are around him and he loves it when he has your attention and lets you know it by telling you all aobut it. We got to spend some time with my little sister Kylee this past weekend while she was attending the hairshow with Katie... and let me just say, I'm pretty sure she's a baby whisperer. I don't know a person that can pick up a almost screaming baby and within minutes they're happy and almost asleep. She just has the touch people and her little nephew Sutton absolutely adores her.

Sutton is also getting accustomed to going flower searching with mom as you can see from the first photo. Katie tells me he enjoys walking around the different green houses and looking at the plants. Apparently some of that farmer blood is in him. We're so excited that he's starting to get his own little personality and I think we're going to have quite a little bundle of energy  around our house once he starts moving around a bit more. We're just hoping we can keep up with him.

Times they are a changing...

Hello all... wow, we're here at April already. Dang, I am going to get better at updating more frequently on this thing. Hopefully everyone is doing well. The Schweitzer household has been bustling with activity since our last update.

The little man is having a good time getting older and being able to hold his head up by himself and looking around to see the world. Mom isn't so sure that it's a good thing because he more often then not wants to skip out on naps because there's too much going on for him to look at. However, the up side to having him be awake all day is that Sutton is sleeping around 6.5 to 8 hours a night. And I think mommy really appreciates that.

Another place Sutton seems to like to frequent would be his little bathtub. He loves to take a bath man and will splash and giggle and talk to Wilson, his imaginary friend that we named for him, the entire time he's in there. But once the playing is done, he enjoys being bundled up in his towel to chill for a while.

A bit of news we would also like to share is that we have adopted a dog for Sutton from the Nebraska Humane Society. We would like to introduce you to our dog Brae. He's a 3 year old Vizsla  and has got to be one of the smartest and most gentle dogs I've come into contact with. And he really seems to have taken a shine to Sutton, so we're excited to have them grow up together and see what great friends they turn out to be.

Sorry I'm so bad at getting on here and at least updating the pictures on here. Sutton looks to be growing and changing every day and we're having a hard time keeping up with him. Our family looks forward to the next few months as we start to get busy with baby dedications, graduations and wedding showers. It'll be quite the next few months and we just hope we can keep up with it all.

March... already?

Ummm, yikes. I can't believe it's been so long since we've gotten on here. I mean, I know everyone said when you have kids your time flies... but dang, we're scooting right along.

What an amazing two months it's been since we've welcomed Sutton into the world. He's an amazing little baby that has so much interest into everything that's going on around him. He's extremely alert and sometimes that's to his downfall because he wants to be awake so much and see everything going on and take it all in, that he forgets that he's a baby sometimes and needs his sleep. So he tends to get cranky every now and again, but for the most part is usually content with being happy and adorable.

Since we've posted last he's had quite a few new experiences. He got to go down to the farm to be with granndpa and grandma Schweitzer for a little bit. It was a quick trip so dad could change the oil in the car and work on a few other things. I will say Sutton was a huge help with everything I worked on in the shop... o wait, no he was too busy keeping mom and grandma entertained in the house while I froze outside.

Our little boy also had to go in for a little bit of surgery here this last month as well. Katie had been noticing that he never really stuck his tongue out, seems weird right since you wouldn't think you'd want your kid to stick his tongue out at you. But, she took him to the pediatrician and he was diagnosed with tongue tie. He told us it wasn't anything really to be worried about but that if we took care of it now it would heal quickly and would help him in the future with speech and help him with breast-feeding. So the appointment was made and we took him in. Holy cow, I know it wasn't a big deal and I would never tell my wife this... but it almost made me cry when we had to leave that little boy with the nurses and the surgeon. I mean it only took like 2 minutes for them to do it, but it seemed like an eternity sitting out in the waiting room for them to finish. I am proud to to say though that our son now moves his tongue around like a champ and can now slobber.... a lot. But we can tell a huge difference and he really seems to enjoy being able to move his tongue around his mouth.

I know these pictures aren't the best quality. But this kid does things so quickly that if you don't just take a quick snapshot with your phone... you'll probably miss it. So, we may just have some grainy images... but it doesn't matter because it's the memories people. I mean don't get me wrong... I love a good picture that's nice and crisp. But I also believe in catching the moment and that's what these say to me. Maybe we'll get better at keeping our digital cameras closer to us when we're walking around. This is our first go around though so we're still figuring it all out.

All of us are excited for some warmer weather and getting out of the house now again for some outdoor activites. Warmer weather brings new seasons and new experiences for the little one that I'm sure he'll meet with his already apparent thrill for life. We'll try and get better at keeping this thing updated too. I know, I know... I said that a month or so ago, but look at this face. It pretty much just takes up all our free time and it gets away from you.
